Winter.
Reit im Winkl is in the southern part of the Chiemgau near the border to Tyrol. At 695 m above sea level, it is one of the most important locations for winter sports in the Bavarian Alps.
In addition to the famous ski resort Winklmoosalm / Steinplatte with its superbly groomed slopes, you can expect to find an extended network of cross-country ski trails (both classic and skate skiing) both in the valley and atop the Winklmoos-Alm and the Hemmersuppenalm. There are also several sites for sledding and tobogganing.
Reit im Winkl has one of the highest degrees of snow reliability in all of Germany. In addition to sites for alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing, it also provides its guests with fantastic winter hiking trails over a snowy landscape. One example of this is the new “Winter Panorama Trail”.
Ski rentals, shopping and an indoor swimming pool are all nearby and there are many other fun winter sport activities such as snowshoeing, sledding and tobogganing, snowtubing or ski touring.
The cultural life is varied as well. Folk music, traditional music, spa orchestra concerts, operettas, musicals, live performances by popular musicians and artists, folkloric evenings, peasant theater and snow festivals are part of the regular repertoire in Reit im Winkl.
